Focusing on Light is a very good thing to do right now. We don’t typically think of ourselves this way but perhaps it is the perfect time to shift our perception of ourselves and our fellow human beings.
What if we saw that difficult person in our life as a wounded, confused soul? How would this change how we approached and interacted with him or her? All of us have been wounded at some point in our life. All of us have been confused about something at one time or another.
Currently, we are dealing with many new stressful life issues on the planet. We do not know what others are dealing with in their lives. Some people are better equipped than others to handle multiple challenges.
In these unsettled times, it is important to remember small and large acts of kindness. Years ago, a dear friend told me that everyone carries a great burden in their heart. Take a moment to feel this. If you stay with it, you may also feel a brand new bond with your fellow human beings. What if we risked reaching out to help someone? What if we put their needs above our momentary awkwardness and/or vulnerability? Your action could become the highlight of their day. You never know.
Lately, I’ve been noticing more people holding the door open for me. I have been doing the same for others. A few months ago I was in line at a grocery store. I saw a woman who had a few items glancing at each checkout line. I told her that she could go before me, since I wasn’t in any hurry. She looked at me with surprise on her face and told me that she had just come from her bible study group where someone said “no one is nice anymore.” She was thrilled to have this story to share with the members of her group. We have no idea how our actions can affect someone, unless we are fortunate enough to be told.
What came to mind when you read ‘Anchored in your own light?’ Have you ever seen yourself this way? We are light, but most days we might not remember this or feel it. We have many choices each day and I would venture to guess that many of us forget this too. Maybe it’s because there is a strong tendency to remain locked in our patterns. Could it be that we are moving through our day so quickly that we don’t notice what comes in front of us? What if we made choices from a place of being light and seeing others this way too? How would our choices and responses change? How would this ripple out into our damaged world?
We can focus on negativity or we can chose to be kind, hopeful and more patient with people. Life presents a constant flow of opportunities. How will you choose to respond, when you become aware of the next one?
